Anna Hibiscus lives in Africa. Amazing Africa. However, in Have Fun, Anna Hibiscus, Book 4 of the Anna Hibiscus series by Atinuke, Anna spends her winter with her Granny Canada. And in Canada there is SNOW!!!!! There are a lot of other things in Canada that are different from Anna’s home in Africa. Granny Canada lives all by herself, no aunties or cousins at all. Anna’s grandfather in Africa warned her that people in Canada let dogs live in houses, and Anna didn’t believe it, but then she learned that Granny Canada had a dog for a pet! And Anna needs to wear lots and lots of clothes in order to stay warm in the snow. She learns how to sled, and how to skate on the ice. The book is joyful throughout and is another beautiful portrait of a young girl. Recommended for 1st grade and up, or for reading together as a family.
