The German Language Association (VDS) created German Language Day in 2001 to encourage people to learn to speak German. It is celebrated yearly on September’s 2nd Saturday. How can you celebrate German Language Day? Try learning to speak a little German! There are several website and apps that specialize in teaching German, among other languages. Or, look for a book that will teach the language. Read a book by a German author or poet (in your native language, of course, if you aren’t fluent in German!). And, eat some delicious German food. Why not?
