Read a New Book Month is celebrated in both December AND September! It is the perfect time to pick up a book that you’ve been meaning to read, that you choose on impulse, or that you choose to read with another person!
Read a Book Month is for all ages–adults, teens, and kids, even really little toddlers can enjoy Read a New Book Month! Books don’t need to be on paper either, don’t miss all the phenomenal varieties that are available electronically now.
How do you celebrate Read a New Book Month? By reading a new book, of course! The book doesn’t need to be physically new, it only needs to be new to you. Buy books, borrow library books, or check out the Little Free Libraries in your neighborhood. Set up a trading station with family and friends to find out what they’ve enjoyed so you can discover something new!
Read short stories, non-fiction, picture books, poetry, novels, encyclopedias, and more! Even textbooks and manuals can be new books which have new tidbits of information to pick up.
Consider joining a book club, or starting one up if you can’t find one that is already around. And what do you do with the books you have finished? Donate them, of course! Check with your local library to see if they can use them, either in their collection or for their book sales (libraries use those sales to provide services taxes can’t provide), or drop them off in Little Free Libraries.
