International Sudoku Day is celebrated on September 9 yearly (9/9, a date that Sudoku enthusiasts will surely see significance in). While Japan’s puzzle enthusiasts named Sudoku, and made it into an international sensation, it is believed to have been invented by an American, in 1979. In 1997 Sudoku was developed into a computer game. The World Puzzle Federation created International Sudoku Day in 2013, and it’s celebrated yearly.

How can you celebrate International Sudoku Day? Why, play a few games of Sudoku, either online or from a book! Make this day the date that you replenish your supply of Sudoku books. You can even challenge your friends to a head to head game of Sudoku!

Why do I enjoy Sudoku? It’s a fun game to play! I love to be challenged and Sudoku most definitely challenges me. It’s also a good brain game, for keeping your mind active and in shape.
